The launch of the Gallery's second group exhibition "Reaching New Horizons" on 28th February was a great success. It was attended by about a hundred people, comprising government officials, business managers, tour operators, educators, artists and art lovers, most of whom lingered for some hours over their glass of wine, enjoying the artistic ambience.
Organised by the Visual Arts Council the exhibition features works from over 30 artists from around Zambia, including those of senior Zambian artists Vincent Maonde, Lawrence Yombwe, Poto Kabwe, Eva Middleton, Kalumbwa Chungu, Benjamin Mibenge, Patrick Mweemba, Agness Buya Yombwe, Danny Chiyesu, Matthew Mudenda and Chansa Chishimba. Numerous promising young and upcoming artists are also represented. A variety of media and techniques are presented, including acrylic, oil and water colour painting, photography, graphite drawing, stone and wood sculpture, bead work, cross-stitch and textile collage.
The exhibition will run through May 2015 and the gallery hopes for an even better response to this exhibition than it received for the first one, which marked the opening of the gallery in October 2014.
